Squad planning continues despite promotion pressure
TSV Eller 04 takes the lead in the promotion race: Two Oberliga defensive players join
In the midst of the tight race for promotion, TSV Eller 04 is already setting the course for the coming season. Noah Karthaus (DJK Adler Union Frintrop) and Niklas Harth (Holzheimer SG) are moving from the Oberliga Niederrhein to Eller, giving the club early planning security – regardless of which league the team will play in next season.
TSV Eller 04 is thus sending a clear signal: While every point counts on the pitch in the three-way battle, the club is working in the background on a squad that promises stability beyond the summer. The fact that both new signings are coming from a division above the Landesliga underlines the sporting ambition.
Early commitments strengthen Eller's planning
The timing of the signings is remarkable. Eller is still in the middle of the promotion race, but can already announce two commitments from the Oberliga Niederrhein. Coach Kerim Kara classifies the transfers as part of a long-term development: “Anyone who has followed our path for some time will notice that we improve steadily year after year. We want to continue on this path. The signings of Noah and Niklas help us enormously.”
For the sporting management, the early decision mainly means reliability. Especially in amateur football, where planning often remains open until the summer, commitments “regardless of the league” are an advantage: They make it easier to balance the squad, provide orientation for further talks – and prevent key issues from only being addressed after a possible promotion or non-promotion decision.
Karthaus and Harth are not only expected to increase competition in defense, but also to stabilize an axis that often decides points in crucial phases of the season. Oberliga experience or Oberliga level is seen as a mark of quality in the environment – especially since the Oberliga Niederrhein, as the highest division in the Niederrhein Football Association, is above the Landesliga.
Kara announces further new signings
With these two transfers, the squad planning is not finished. Kara announces further steps: “That was just the beginning. In the coming weeks, we will introduce more players who will join us.”
At the same time, Eller is relying on continuity in the current squad. Fabian Stutz, Anas El-Rifai, Takumi Miyata, Antonio Marinovic, Kevin Lobato, Sascha Bechert, and Nico Stracke have already committed for another season. Kara emphasizes above all the environment as an argument: “In amateur football, other things are more important. We have a great team together and an outstanding atmosphere in the club.”
The future of captain Adnan Hotic is still open. The 37-year-old remains an important factor for Kara – both athletically and as a leader. “We will sit down together after the season and then find a good solution together. That was agreed from the start.” About his captain, Kara also says: “Ado does everything for the success of the team.”
Promotion race remains the sporting pace-setter
Despite the early squad decisions, the immediate sporting situation remains the pace-setter: Eller is currently three points behind league leaders and local rivals MSV Düsseldorf. SG Benrath-Hassels is level on points with MSV – a tight three-way battle has developed at the top.
The penultimate matchday is of particular importance: Eller will then host MSV Düsseldorf at home for a direct duel. Kara puts the situation accordingly: “So we have everything in our own hands.”
Until then, the margin for error is minimal. Even the next task on Sunday against eleventh-placed SV Uedesheim is significant, because any slip-up would worsen the starting position in the three-way battle. While the decision on promotion is still pending on the pitch, Eller is already creating facts in the background – with two early commitments that underline the ambition to take the next step.
