Tracks: When every decision leaves its own trace
The world is open, all paths seem possible – and therein lies the overwhelming nature. With Tracks, the youth company of tanzhaus nrw presents a contemporary dance piece that tells of fears about the future, pressure to decide, FOMO, and the restless dynamics of social media.
A labyrinth of possibilities
What do I really want? Do I stay on my path, take a shortcut, or has the crucial move left long ago? The 16 dancers encounter these questions individually and as a community. The dramaturgy follows the inner movements of a generation searching for its own rhythm amidst expectations, obligations, perfectionism, and the desire for orientation.
Dance as a language for the unspeakable
Where words reach their limits, stage art begins. Classical, contemporary, and urban dance forms merge into a multifaceted vocabulary of movement. Powerful group passages encounter sensitive moments, closeness shifts to isolation, order tips into unrest. The staging makes feelings physically tangible and transforms the stage into a field of tension filled with fear, anger, overwhelm, coincidence, and happiness.
Young perspectives, professional guidance
The young people aged 12 to 18 develop movement material, choreographic sequences, and group scenes from their own dance experiences. They are artistically accompanied by Takao Baba and Nora Pfahl. The musical direction is undertaken by Mischa Tangian, and the costumes are created by Maxie Rosenkranz in collaboration with the dancers.
This results in a stage experience that connects personal passion with societal pressure. Music, body, space, and lighting condense into a theatrical atmosphere in which the audience experiences the search for their own way firsthand.
Excellent youth work
The youth company of tanzhaus nrw emerged from the take-off program for the promotion of dance talent and was invited to the Dance Meeting of Youth in Berlin in 2024 and 2025. Tracks was also considered for the interim selection of the Dance Meeting of Youth 2026. The work thus stands for a committed connection of youth promotion, choreographic self-responsibility, and contemporary dance art.
Conclusion: Movement that resonates
Tracks does not promise a finished recipe for the right decision, but rather an intense look at the paths in between. The audience can expect an energetic, poetic, and physically immediate staging about orientation, community, and the courage to leave one's own trace. Those who want to experience young dance theater with strong images and current questions should discover this performance live at tanzhaus nrw.
