ZickZack at tanzhaus nrw: Dance Art for the Youngest Explorers

ZickZack: Dance, Sound and Movement for Curious Explorers

Lines rise and fall, intersect, break apart and come together anew: In ZickZack, the tanzfuchs PRODUCTION transforms the Small Hall at tanzhaus nrw into a lively research lab of movement. The performance on December 7, 2026 is aimed at children aged three and up and combines contemporary dance, sound, and playful stage art.

When Scribbles Come to Life

The starting point of the production is the first scribbles of children: strokes, zigzags, and lines that repeat, change and connect into their own patterns. Two performers draw with their bodies in the space, allowing arms, feet, gestures, and rhythms to interact, developing a movement dramaturgy that is at once clear and surprising.

A Sensory Stage Experience

Sometimes the zigzag appears rigid and sharp, then chaotic, orderly, quiet, or wild. Movements become visible lines, sounds become acoustic traces. The production invites young viewers not only to observe but also to join in, feel along, and continue drawing internally. This creates an immediate theater atmosphere, where bodies, space, and rhythm communicate with each other.

Humorous Dramaturgy for the Youngest Guests

Barbara Fuchs develops with the tanzfuchs PRODUCTION an age-appropriate form of contemporary dance that relies entirely on perception without a large narrative. Repetition and change form the basic dramaturgical principle: A pattern returns, tips in a new direction, and opens the eyes to the joy of discovery. The audience's reactions can become part of the stage event.

Performance in the Young tanzhaus

The performance takes place in the Small Hall of tanzhaus nrw in Düsseldorf. The morning performance is particularly suitable for schools, daycare centers, kindergartens, as well as care, educational, and recreational facilities. Children and young people pay 4 euros, accompanying persons receive free entry. A workshop additional booking is possible for 2 euros per person.

Conclusion: See the World Anew with ZickZack

ZickZack promises a concentrated, humorous, and body-close stage experience for the very young theater guests. Those who want to experience how a simple line transforms into dance, sound, and shared wonder will find a imaginative invitation to zigzag along in tanzhaus nrw.
