ZickZack: When lines dance and patterns come to life

In the small hall of tanzhaus nrw, the space transforms into a moving landscape of lines, sounds, and bodies. The dance-sound performance ZickZack by tanzfuchs Produktion and Barbara Fuchs invites children from three years old and their families to a sensory stage experience where order, rhythm, and surprise become tangible.

A journey through the world of Zick and Zack

Back and forth, crisscross, up and down: Two performers follow the tracks of Zick and Zack. Paths intersect, movements draw patterns in the space, sounds create impulses. What seems orderly at one moment gets out of sync and reshapes itself in the next moment.

Dance, sound, and childlike curiosity

The staging takes the first scribbles of children as a starting point. Strokes, zigzags, lines, and symmetries become a unique stage language. Feet, arms, voices, rhythms, and bodies respond to each other, developing a play between repetition and change.

Humorous stage art for the whole family

Sometimes sharp, sometimes round, sometimes quiet, sometimes wild: ZickZack connects contemporary dance with an imaginative sound dramaturgy. The stage design becomes a landscape of patterns, the acoustics a partner in movement. Directed by Barbara Fuchs, an open theater atmosphere is created, where young audience members do not just observe but can feel and imaginatively co-create.

Strong artistic signature

The artistic leadership includes not only Barbara Fuchs but also dancer Moonjoo Kim, Emily Welther for dance and sound, composer Jörg Ritzenhoff, set designer Regina Rösing, lighting designer Edgar Rösing, and dramaturg Vivica Bocks. The production was created in co-production with tanzhaus nrw in Düsseldorf and the Consol Theater in Gelsenkirchen.

Conclusion: A vibrant stage experience for little explorers

ZickZack transforms simple lines into a universe full of movement, sound, and surprise. Families can expect a humorous dance performance that makes contemporary stage art accessible and immediately experienceable. Those who want to see how a line becomes a dance and a pattern becomes a story should experience this performance live.
