Hit Hip Pop Classic Parade: The headphone party for all generations

On November 22, 2026, the foyer of tanzhaus nrw in Düsseldorf will transform into an extraordinary dance floor. David Rolland's Hit Hip Pop Classic Parade combines party atmosphere, choreography, and music history into an interactive club experience for young and old.

When classical meets disco and rap

Equipped with headphones, the audience follows two dancers through original, easily accessible choreographies. The musical DJ set of a special kind jumps between Bach, Bizet, and Mozart, pop, rap, and disco. Village People, Fairuz, and the sound world of Saturday Night Fever meet classical compositions, creating a surprising music mix.

The crowd becomes part of the show

No one is just a spectator here. Simple movements transform the audience into a collective dance formation: grand opera scenes, ritualistic dances, and exuberant group moments arise directly in the space. The headphones create an intense connection between sound, movement, and crowd – all without a loud sound system, but with maximum dance floor atmosphere.

David Rolland's participatory dance world

The production was created in 2023 under the artistic direction of David Rolland and is aimed at an audience aged seven and up. The approximately 50-minute performance combines contemporary dance with popular music culture, making club culture, choreography, and collective celebration experienceable for different generations. The performance takes place as part of the take-off Festival and celebrates its German premiere.

Conclusion: Headphones on, movement on

A classic stage performance is not expected, but a musical participatory party with surprising transitions, energetic movements, and an open crowd. Anyone wanting to experience classical, pop, rap, disco, and dance in a collective club experience will encounter a special kind of hit parade at tanzhaus nrw.
