Open Studio x: Bettina Erzgräber – Drawing, Sculpture and Artistic Research in Düsseldorf

On November 13, 2026, the exhibition format Open x invites you to its second edition. The focus is on the artist and university lecturer Bettina Erzgräber. The evening starts at 6:00 PM in Düsseldorf and provides immediate access to her artistic practice.

Between Drawing and Free Sculpture

Bettina Erzgräber studied art education, art history, and history in Mainz and Stuttgart. She then completed a postgraduate program in Free Sculpture under Jürgen Brodwolf. This connection of art-historical thinking, drawing, and plastic form shapes her position within contemporary art.

An Artist Between Studio and University

Since 2015, Erzgräber has been a professor for drawing and artistic design at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle and since 2022 the rector of the university. Her work moves between artistic production, aesthetic research, and cultural education. Numerous scholarships and awards, including the Salzburg Scholarship, a Paris Scholarship, and a special prize from the Marler Video Art Prize, accompany her career.

Artwork Viewing as Aesthetic Experience

Open Studio x creates a framework for concentrated artwork viewing and personal encounters. Drawing appears not only as a preparatory medium but as an independent artistic language. Lines, surfaces, spatial relations, and the materiality of the image carrier open up an exhibition atmosphere where processes of seeing and shaping become directly experienceable.

Art History Meets Present

The presentation combines art-historical reflection with contemporary studio practice. Erzgräber's exhibitions range from drawing and sculpture to cross-media projects and international presentations. For art enthusiasts, the evening offers the opportunity to learn about an established position in German contemporary art in the context of the open studio.

Open Studio x: Bettina Erzgräber promises an intense art experience between line, space, and artistic research. Anyone wanting to experience the emergence and impact of contemporary art up close should not miss this exhibition on November 13, 2026, in Düsseldorf.
