Ivan Geddert's Spatenprobe at BLOOM: Experience Contemporary Sculpture in Düsseldorf

Ivan Geddert: Spatenprobe – Sculpture between Body, Space and Action

The exhibition Spatenprobe at BLOOM in Düsseldorf brings together a selection of new sculptural works by the artist Ivan Geddert, who lives and works in Berlin. At the center is a contemporary art experience that focuses on the body, movement, materiality, and the spatial staging of action.

Sculpture as a Trace of Action

Ivan Geddert's artistic practice explores different forms of presenting the body. His sculptures and installations do not solely appear as autonomous objects but are related to performance, language, voice, music, and theatrical situations. They remind one of props that remain in the space after an action, with their story visible only in fragments.

Material, Space, and Aesthetic Experience

The new works unfold their effect through presence and spatial tension. Forms, surfaces, and distances create an exhibition atmosphere in which viewing the works becomes an active perception. The art experience arises where sculpture can not only be observed but also physically and mentally experienced.

Art Historical Context

Geddert's works combine elements of contemporary sculpture with strategies of installation and performance art. The artist is interested in the staging of the body, the acoustic and semantic possibilities of language, and misunderstandings that arise from communication. Thus, Spatenprobe opens a multifaceted approach to questions of perception, action, and cultural education.

BLOOM as Düsseldorf's Exhibition Venue

Gallery BLOOM presents the exhibition from October 16 to November 14, 2026. The exhibition space provides a concentrated framework for the sculptural works and makes the interaction between object, architecture, and visitors immediately tangible.
